Welcome to the Elementary Counselor Connect

My name is Ms. Hinton. I am the elementary school counselor.

I grew up in Los Angeles California (proud to say, south Central LA and Compton). Once I graduated I moved to San Diego and attended the University of Phoenix and San Diego State where I earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Human Service Management and a Master’s Degree in School Counseling. The majority of my time in San Diego was spent at Granite Hills and Santana High School.

In 2010, I moved to Las Vegas and worked as a substitute teacher at Bishop Gorman High School. Although I truly enjoyed working with high school students I didn’t realize the pure joy I would receive when working with elementary students until I came to AACPA. In my spare time, I love traveling but do not like flying (go figure) and spending time with my family. My faith and a positive outlook on life will always keep me grounded.

The Counselor may see students for:
Classroom Guidance
The counselor will conduct classroom guidance activities throughout the year. The goal will be to develop an awareness of self, others and the world around them.
Small Group Counseling
Activities are designed to help students experience self-confidence, friendship, grief, decision making, and attitude and behavior changes. Some groups are formed by grade level, and some are formed with students sharing a common concern.
Individual Counseling
The counselor will work with students who are self-referred, teacher-referred, or parent-referred. No concern is too big or small to bring to the counselor's office.
***I do NOT provide " therapy" or traditional counseling.
