Lottery
What is the Lottery?
Similar to magnet schools and other charter schools in the Clark County School District (CCSD) and in accordance to Nevada revised statute 386.580, AACPA implements a lottery to select students for enrollment when there are more people who apply than there are available spaces. The lottery itself is conducted with computer software while an administrator from CCSD oversees the process.
If a lottery is necessary (it is our expectation that a lottery will be used for the 2012–2013 school year), applicants will be grouped and preferenced according to the categories outlined on the 2012–2013 student application for enrollment. Within these groups, applicants are selected randomly during the lottery. The next lottery will be held in April, 2012.
A letter will be mailed to the address that was provided on your application notifying you of the lottery results. This letter will provide further information for you based on the outcome of the lottery. How long is the waiting list? The length of the waiting list varies because it starts over each year after the lottery. The waiting list depends on the number of people that apply and the number of student spaces that are available in each grade every year.
